European Projects
EPAs Project 'Capacity Building of Eastern and Southern Civil Society during the Economic Partnership Agreement Negotiations'
Through awareness-raising and consultative activities on the potential impact of an EPA, the project aims to build the capacity of a wide range of local civil society organisations to advocate their concerns to African policy-makers. The EPAs project is being managed and implemented by CUTS LRC and supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GTZ. The project is running from October 2005 to December 2007.
TDP 'Linkages between Trade, Development and Poverty reduction'
International trade is widely perceived as a means to reduce poverty, not an end in itself. Linkages between trade and economic growth, and economic growth and poverty reduction are well established in the economic literature. Yet, despite the existence of theoretical literature explaining these linkages, insufficient empirical evidence exists to prove the robustness of this linkage.
Through background research, a wide range of national and international dialogues and output based advocacy, the TDP project aims to promote more effective linkages between trade, and efforts aimed at development and poverty reduction in 13 developing countries in Asia and Africa, and two European countries (the UK and Netherlands). This is a four year project, which started in March 2005. TDP is supported by the UK Department for International Development (DfID) and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
IFD 'Investment for Development'
This project aimed to create awareness and build capacity on investment regimes and international investment issues in developing and transition economies. The project ran between September 2001 and December 2003 and was implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). It was supported by the Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK.
